Start with the titles you remember
Write down a film name, an actor or the programme you were halfway through. Search those clues separately. A remembered year can distinguish a remake from an earlier production; the cast can resolve a title shared by several films.
For series, add the last season you remember. Do not guess that the newest episode is the next one you need. Open the programme, review its recorded seasons and set a checkpoint for the last episode you actually completed.

Rebuild a useful list first
Recover the programmes you are actively following before trying to reconstruct every old recommendation. Add a few films you still want to see, then create a backup. You can keep improving the list without making its size the goal.
